Guest Blog: Training and Support for Managing Drinking Water Systems in First Nations Communities in Ontario

As of September 2019, there were 56 long-term drinking water advisories (LTDWA) for public systems on First Nations reserves across Canada. These are either Boil Water advisories or Do Not Consume advisories that have been in effect for more than a year. Of these 56 LTDWA, more than half have been in effect for over a decade and while this is a cross-Canada issue, there is a greater number in Ontario (42) than all other provinces combined.

The Policy Brief: A Tool for Knowledge Transfer

During the past decade, the policy brief has been growing in popularity as a tool as a tool for summarizing and communicating research evidence with policy makers. But the term “policy brief” (or other equivalent terms) is used to designate documents with various kinds of contents and formats, which can be confusing. The aim of this document is to guide knowledge producers (researchers, scientific advisors or analysts, consultants, etc.) through the writing of an evidence-informed policy brief intended for policy makers. Based on a literature review, this document describes the characteristics of the policy brief, its components and the elements to consider when writing one in order to maximize its potential. It also provides a selection of writing guides to help readers find resources adapted to their specific needs.

Collection of Adapted Summaries of Public Health Ethics Frameworks and Very Short Case Studies
